Monica Jaising's The Sailing Bride

Amazon India Couture Week
Day 3
6: 00 PM : Monisha Jaising

THE SAILING BRIDE

Monisha Jaising is India’s eminent fashion designer and founder of the brand ‘Monisha Jaising’.She is one of the pioneers of the Indian Fashion Industry and has collaborated with all major players that shaped the Fashion industry. Monisha Jaising started her design career in 1989 after graduating from the American College for Applied Arts and then The Royal College of Arts.

Currently her multi-dimensional label comprises of luxury sportswear, resort wear, evening wear and bridal couture.

She follows a color palette meant for the young, ambitious and sexy modern woman. Her command of hues is natural and easy, sophisticated and sensual. She creates collections that are alive, femininely seductive, with an interesting blend of Western and Eastern elements.

The magnetism of her alluring designs brings out the personality of the wearer. Known as the princess of “Bohemiam luxe” and the “Re-Inventor of the Kurti”, she completes 25 glorious years in the fashion industry.

“The Sailing Bride” by designer Monisha Jaising is a scenario, reflecting the amalgam of different elements, which makes up for a memorable wedding on-board a luxury yacht.
There are well-detailed masterpieces, complexity of forms and its multiple interpretations of elements on fabrics which outline the nature of cross cultures of the world, the boat, sea foams, fiery pieces of the coral reef, starfish and shells, the stark beams of the sun, textured sand; these are the various forms implemented in each opus.
This collection is for the cool laid-back bride and her entourage!

Prernia Qureshi was the Show Stopper Sailing Bride and I am in love with her dress. The structured tailoring, the cuts and the flow and the amalgamation of embroidery is love. And lehanga with sneakers? I am sure its every brides's dream!

The color pallete was dominated by powder blues with pop of pinks and reds.

Powder blue with vintage flower embroidery on it is a ultra glam and luxurious for the new age bride. This fashion week we are seeing less of reds of the modern bride and we are totally loving the change.

This dress is minimalistic and luxurious.

Kashish by Anju Modi

Day 3
5: 00 PM : Anju Modi Couture Preview
Kashish by Anju Modi

KASHISH

| ANJU MODI - COUTURE 2015 |

I asked, “Where is your home, beautiful moon?”
She said, “In the wreck of your heart so stone.
I am the sun shining into your ruin.
Long may you call this wild wasteland your home”.

Kashish, an Urdu word, reflects an attraction, a deep desire and yearning for something; something which maybe never was.

Drawing inspiration from one of the richest ancient civilizations, Persia, Kashish resonates this longing for a lost place that used to be the home to magical folklores endorsing beautiful princesses, fierce as well as passionate and verses by Rumi validating their very existence. Anju Modi wanders off in an attempt to recreate and enumerate this excruciating yet embalming feeling through her collection, to a world which we all long to experience, again and again and again!

Pastel shades of blue, yellow and whites dominated the color palatte along with royal blues and reds. The amalgamation of intricate embroidery with pastel pinks and blues together bring together the outfit for the modern bride away from the traditional reds.

AICW 2015 Day 2

Amazon India Couture Week

DAY 2
8: 00 PM : Rahul Mishra
9: 30 PM : Gaurav Gupta

"TREE OF LIFE" by Rahul Mishra

Day 2 at FDCI AICW started with Rahul Mishra's Tree Of Life Collection. The Collection takes inspiration from the multitasking modern women in terms of strength and fragility. Inspired from centuries old Chintz textiles, the collection carries simplicity, which is represented through age-old craftsmanship in a modern progressive graphic style.

Revisiting the glorious era, the collection transverses from hand embroidered floral patterns to sheer handloom textiles to create a harmony between sharp tailoring and utlra lux sportswear. The collection comprises of contemporary elements put together for new age bride.
Bomber jackets and jumpers with lehangas and capes and jackets with sarees?
Who thought this could work out perfectly?

The intricate hand embroideries are an outcome of concerted efforts of reverse migration craftsmen back into their villages from urban dwellings, to take a new step in producing Slow Fashion.

Rahul Mishra tells us that whites and minimal make-up look is here to stay the next season too.

This ones my favourite. The color, the flow, the intricate flower embroidery and modern design.

"SILT AND CIPHER" by Gaurav Gupta

Sand so brilliant, reflective, mysterious and yet always at the verge of disappearing with one swish of wave. Silt and Cipher are sews itself along those lines. The clinched waist, the recurring peplum, many tiered skirts and costumesque volumes make their appearances.

I am in love with Kalki's dress. This dress is every modern girl's dream. The waves and ripples of this dress reminds us of the beach, doesn't it?

Structure and Drape juxtaposed throughout in Oil Blue, Glare Silver, Withered Peach, Just Nude and Tipsy Gold. There is extensive play of tone on tone and the almost botanical renderings of roots and oceans to make the gowns, sari gowns and lehanga gowns seem emerging out of elements.

The whites and Nudes are here to stay and so is the nude makeup. Both Ruhal Mishra's and Gaurav Gupta's models had nude lips and minimal makeup.

DIY Lip Print tee

#artmeetsfashion

Hello readers and welcome to DIY-July.
This post is a part of  #artmeetsfashion series that I have been doing. You can check out the previous posts of this series here , here and here.

Quirky prints have been a rage this season, be it the eye print , the ice-cream print or the lip print. I have kind of been obsessed with all these quirky prints. They give an edge to any casual outfit.
I finally decided to paint a quirky lip print myself to match my DIY Lip clutch. I love hand-painted stuff as it screams individuality and makes you stand out in the crowd.

You can upgrade old boring tees in your closet by following these simple steps.
Stuff you need :
1. T-shirt ( I got a baby pink t-shit and painted pink and red lips on it. You try different colors too. Buy a mauve tee and paint purple lips on it. )
2. Fabric paints - Red, pink and black
3. Paint brushes
4. Scissors

Follow these simple steps :

1. Start with painting pink lips on the tee.

After painting the pink lips start with painting the red ones.

 2. Start out-lining the lip shapes with black color

3. Take a pencil and draw semi-circles at the end of the tee for the scallop detailing. Cut these scallops using scissors.

Voila !!! You are done.

This tee really goes well the Lip Clutch. You can make one for yourself  here Lip Clutch Tutorial .

So this is how the final painted tee looks. It looks pretty cool and quirky. I will be styling this tee in two ways in my next post, one being a casual look and other being a little dressy.

I hope you guys like this post.
You can experiment and paint eyes or daisies similarly on your old tees.
Do tag me on instagram if you try this DIY.

Happy DIY-ing fellas.!!

DIY crop shirt

Hello my lovely readers.
How are you all doing? Welcome to DIY-July. I will be posting a lot of DIY posts this month.
*Drumroll*
Also I will be launching my new collection this month so keep checking my facebook page and Instagram to know the details.
So about this post, this DIY is about how to make a cropped shirt. It is pretty easy. Just follow these basic steps and you can up-cycle your old boring shirt.
 Materials required are :
1. Any old shirt ( I used this one as it got torn from the back the last time I wore and it and also I was not ready to part with it yet. If you are a cloth hoarder like me, you will get it :P )
2. Scissors
3. Measuring Tape
4. Chalk
5. Thread and Needle
6. Golden thread (optional)

Follow this super easy step by step instructions to make one for yourself.

1. Get a shirt you want to make into a cropped shirt.

2. Measure the length using a measuring tape. I measured 18.5 inches so that I get the final length 16 inches after hemming.

3. Mark the length using a fabric chalk.

4. Cut the fabric using scissors along the markings.

This is how it would look after cropping.

5. Hem the edges using a thread and needle.

6. *Optional Step * I used this gold thread to make leaf like pattern at the tips of the collar. Make straight parallel inclined lines on both sides and viola.!

So this how the  crop shirt turned out. Looks pretty decent, eh?
I will style it soon in one of my future posts.

Here are some ideas on how you can style your cropped shirt (image courtesy : http://riamichelle.com/, http://blog.gypsywarrior.com/ , http://thefashiontag.com/ )

Until then keep catching the action on my instagram handle charuta_modayalda.
Also I will be launching new collection this month on my facebook page so please check it and give me your feedback.
If you try this DIY, to tag me and I will repost it.
Until next time.
